Job Title: CAREGIVER / RECREATION FACILITATOR
Essential Functions: The Caregiver/recreation facilitator collaborates with a team of caregivers/recreation facilitators and along with the Executive Director to provide personal care for clients with physical disabilities & animate age appropriate recreational and educational activities within a day program setting.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Program animation
- Planning and running of varied educational and recreational programs.
(You will be allotted a 45 minute program activity period during your shift. Programs should be age-appropriate for adult clientele.)
- Planning and running of varied educational and recreational programs.
- Engage, encourage and facilitate client participation during your program time.
- Be actively assisting in other programs,
- Performing various duties for the Executive Director during the hours when you are not animating an activity.
- One-on-one client sessions
- Facilitating a one-on-one per shift with a client
- Facilitate the designate goal oriented, recreational or social one-on-one session with assigned client/clients.
- Advocate
- Be responsible for advocating the needs of clients as a primary day program caregiver advocates.
- Personal care
- Provide personal care and assist the clients in activities of daily living including toileting, dressing, feeding, lifting, transferring
- Ensure safe and responsible medication administration.
- Be attentive to the clients’ needs and provide them with the necessary and appropriate care.
- Teamwork
- Contribute to staff-meetings and to participate in group decisions.
- Contribute to housekeeping tasks
- Report feedback, observations and incidents to the Responsible on duty and/or the Director.
- Ensure the well being, security and health of the clients within a team setting.
- Staff must work as a cohesive unit where all members contribute and participate on an equal basis.
Working schedule: Substitute hours or replacement hours vary
- Shifts are from 9:00AM and ends at 4:00PM Mondays through Fridays unless otherwise indicated due to holidays, or other special circumstances.
- Staffs are entitled to a paid 30 minute break that will be scheduled. Lunch will be taken at the same time as the lunch-time provided for the clients.
Pay: Rate of pay is 16$ per hour.
Language: English necessary, Knowledge of French an asset
Competencies/ Qualifications:
- Experience working with persons with disabilities or currently studying a related field
- Experience working with special needs or currently enrolled in studies in related field
- Experience in animating group discussions & activities
- Strong work ethic
- Punctual, responsible, dynamic, energetic
- Interest in physical activities an asset
- Must be physically capable to do all aspects of personal care including lifting, bending, & pushing wheelchairs
- First-aid/CPR certificate an asset

The C.A.R.E. Centre is a non-profit charitable organization in Montreal, Quebec, that provides a day program for adults with physical disabilities in the Montréal area. The C.A.R.E. Centre offers a program of recreational and educational activities to adults over 21 with physical disabilities. We advocate for our clients and provide them with opportunities for community social inclusion.

Essential Functions: Providing care for clients with physical disabilities & animating recreational and educational activities in a sleep away summer camp setting.
Job Length: August 5th to August 23rd, 2019 (3 weeks)
The possibility to work only the first or second half of that period upon request.
August 5- August 15th (First half)
August 15th-August 23rd (Second half)
Job Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the coordinator:
- Provide program animation including planning and running varied age-appropriate recreational and educational activities for a summer camp setting.
- Provide personal care and assist in activities of daily living including showering, toileting, transferring, dressing, and feeding, as well as ensuring safe and responsible medication administration.
- Contribute Teamwork; Contribute to staff meetings, contribute to housekeeping tasks, report feedback to the Coordinator, ensure the wellbeing, security and health of the clients within a team setting.
Pay: 150$/day
(Room, meals & transportation included)
Paid breaks included
Personal Attributes
Language: English necessary
